MY LATEST BLOG.

 Are You Having problems with
Roof  Angel or Roof Angel Coatings?

They may well be a very reputable company, however I am regrettably  beginning to have some serious doubts.

I recently placed an order with Roof Angel, paid my deposit by "credit card" on the understanding that I was able to cancel within 7 Days, should I feel it necessary for any reason, and receive a full refund.

A cooling off period, is a legal requirement, to give the customer time to consider more carefully and make whatever enquiries required to seek any relevant advice needed, to confirm or otherwise the claims made for the product or services etc.

Having made the decision to cancel, I phoned and returned the necessary documentation to Roof Angel within 3 days by registered post, which I have proof was received the following day at their Head Office Address.

I have since had discussions with the Marketing Manager Mr Charlie Oxley and Mr Simon Regan who I am led to believe is the owner of Roof Angel. They assured me a credit had been arranged, and they did not understand why I had not received the promise return of monies back to my credit card.

I have to say that all conversations have been very pleasant and at no time have there been any refusal to accept cancellation or return my deposit. They have said that arrangement had been made for the return via the credit  card system, that this may take up to 4 or 5 days. All this is quite acceptable, however it is now more than two weeks and my bank has not received the promised credit and can find no trace of it within the system at the time of publishing this page. (date appears at the foot of this webpage)

This has left me with the difficult decision at this time, after a discussions with Trading Standards I have been advised to instruct my Credit Card Company to take action to recover the payment. However if Roof Angel take immediate action to correct the error I will update this page accordingly. Data for the search engines will also be up dated to show settlement received. Seven days latter or sooner if requested this will all be removed from public view, and the page deleted from my web space.

I really hoped all this will not be necessary and that by now Roof Angel had proved to me that they were a reputable company that stood by their word, and complied with the terms and conditions of their sale agreement.

Some tangible proof that the error was due to Streamline, the card company that they use to process their transactions would ease the situation somewhat. However I as far as I am concerned they still have my £665.00, and there seems to be no signs of it being returned. This can only lead me to think "Dodgy Traders"! Such a shame as the product may, as they claim it to be, the best on the market. However if they cannot return the deposit, will the 10 year warranty be any better?

I can only conclude at this time that I made the right decision to cancel. 28/8/2009

It is now the 5th September, My bank informed me on Tuesday 1st September that Mr Regan had assured them that the credit had been actioned and that they were going to drop the refund Slip issue by the Streamline machine into me early in the week. It is now Saturday, there has been no refund or visit from any Roof Angel staff, so the promised Slip showing the details of the transaction is still not available.

It would appear, that the companies word cannot be relied upon. By the middle of next week they will have had my money for a month and it would seem that there is no intention of complying with the regulations at all. A case off 'Buyer Beware' maybe.

12/9/2009 I still have no refund and my phone calls are not answered.

So lets bring this saga up to date, I still have not received any communications form Roof Angel. So the promised Visa terminal receipt for my money, or the refund. My Bankers started action to reclaim the payment but a period of 30 days was required before this could take place. I was informed of this action was to be taken on the 2nd September.

I check my accounts on line at regular intervals and on the on the 5th October. my account was credited with a full refund. This was followed by a letter from the Bank confirming that they had taken action and Streamline the card terminal company used by Roof Angel, had made the refund, under the terms and conditions available to protect the consumer

However Roof Angel now have a right to challenge this action and have 60 days in which to make a counter claim. Therefore at this point in time it seems likely the matter is settled. Only time will tell, we shall see.

May be I can now consider the matter closed. However I consider Simon Regan and Roof Angel's  lack of interest "may be" indicative of the methods by which they trade.

Although this maybe a one off, and the company and product could both be reliable, from my experience over this transaction I am left feeling that, I must repeat my previous comment.

A case of  'Buyer Beware'  Maybe?
